About the artist
Helen trained as a graphic designer with an ambition to work in publishing. After finishing her BA (Hons) degree in 1982, Helen worked for a range of publishing companies as designer, illustrator and art editor.
From about 1993 Helen concentrated on combining her passion for illustration with a love of animals and wildlife – by working part time at a nationally acclaimed animal shelter in Cambridgeshire whilst developing her illustration skills through working on commissions for animal portraits. During this time Helen also undertook professional training in botanical illustration which helped her develop a deeper understanding of colour and techniques for applying fine detail within her work.
Helen has exhibited her work at RHS events in London and at galleries in Cambridgeshire.
Helen now lives and works in Shropshire where she continues her botanical work and animal portrait commissions.
